# Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP): Streams & Eligibility

**Quick answer:** The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) nominates Express Entry candidates with Alberta ties or in-demand skills, workers already employed in Alberta, and entrepreneurs. An Express Entry nomination adds 600 CRS points.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is Alberta's provincial nominee program that enables the province to nominate skilled workers and graduates for Canadian permanent residence. Alberta is Canada's energy province and one of its wealthiest, with a strong economy and high standard of living.

The AINP includes several streams: the Alberta Opportunity Stream for workers currently employed in Alberta in an eligible occupation, the Alberta Express Entry Stream for candidates who are in the federal Express Entry pool and have strong ties to Alberta, and the Rural Renewal Stream for workers in rural Alberta communities.

The Alberta Opportunity Stream targets foreign workers already living and working in Alberta on a valid work permit. Applicants must have worked in Alberta for at least 6 months in an eligible occupation and demonstrate their intent to settle permanently in the province.

The Rural Renewal Stream was designed to direct immigration to smaller communities outside of Calgary and Edmonton, helping rural Alberta communities attract and retain workers. Applicants must have a full-time job offer from an employer in a participating rural Alberta community. Successful AINP nominees who are already in the Express Entry pool receive 600 additional CRS points upon nomination.
