If you are a skilled worker or business person from overseas who wishes to migrate to Australia then use SkillSelect to make an expression of interest. Using SkillSelect all EOIs need to be completed online. An expression of interest is not a visa application & in SkillSelect there is no fee to create or submit an EOI.
For certain programs you are required to participate in a skills assessment or points test. Even if you don’t meet the pass mark you will be able to complete an expression of interest, but you will not be entitled to be invited to apply for a visa.
How Does SkillSelect Work?
- Candidates enter their detailed information into SkillSelect via the Australian Department of Home Affairs online form.
- Candidates undergo a skill test which assesses their abilities, proficiency of English language & educational level.
- Candidates select an Expression of Interest in the category of visa for which they would like to be selected.
- Once the candidate is in the system, the invitation will be sent by Australian employers or state & territory governments to lodge an application for a visa. This is the nomination process which is mostly needed for skilled worker visas.
- The candidate completes a visa application process.
- If the candidate is accepted, then he/she will obtain a visa & then they may live and work in Australia.
