# New Zealand Study Visa for Indian Students

**Quick answer:** Indian students need an offer of place from an approved New Zealand education provider, tuition payment, proof of living funds (or the Funds Transfer Scheme), English scores and health and character checks to get a New Zealand student visa. Eligible graduates can get a post-study work visa and pursue residence through the Skilled Migrant Category.

New Zealand is a popular study destination for international students, offering world-class education in a safe, welcoming, and stunningly beautiful environment. Universities such as the University of Auckland, Victoria University of Wellington, and the University of Otago are internationally recognised for research and academic excellence.

International students who wish to study in New Zealand for more than 3 months must obtain a Student Visa from Immigration New Zealand. Applications can be lodged online or at a New Zealand Visa Application Centre. Required documents include an offer of place from a New Zealand institution, evidence of tuition fee payment, proof of sufficient funds, travel insurance, and a valid passport.

New Zealand student visa holders are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and full-time during scheduled breaks. Partners of student visa holders enrolled in Level 7 programmes (bachelor's degree) or above may also be eligible for an open work visa, allowing them to work for any employer in New Zealand.

After completing their studies, graduates of New Zealand institutions may be eligible for a Post Study Open Work Visa, which allows them to work in New Zealand for up to three years depending on the level and duration of their qualification. New Zealand also offers pathways to residence through the Skilled Migrant Category for graduates who find skilled employment after their studies.
