What are the Requirements to Immigrate to Canada?

What is PR?
A Canadian PR is a citizen of another country who has been granted permission to live in the country Canada as a permanent resident. Once a person has PR status, they will have the right to live and work anywhere in the Canadian country. Permanent residents receive a significant number of benefits in the country, including healthcare services and social services, the right to live, work, and study anywhere in Canadian country, and protection under Canadian law. What is a Citizen?
Canadian citizens will have many rights and privileges in Canada. Citizens will have access to healthcare services, social services, and support under Canadian law. A citizen can live, work, and study, anywhere in the country, and will have the right to vote in Canadian elections. As well, citizenship cannot be revoked. All people born in Canada automatically qualify for Canadian citizenship. As well, foreign nationals can become naturalised Canadian citizens by going through the proper application process with IRCC.
Can I Work Anywhere in Canada?
Once a person has Canadian PR status, they have the authorization to live and work anywhere in the country of Canada. If a foreign national does not have Canadian PR status, then they need to have the proper authorization to work in the country. Usually, this authorization comes in the form of a work permit.
Can I Bring My Family to Canada?
Some immigration programs permit foreign nationals to immigrate to Canada with their family members. However, the family members able to go along with a foreign national varies depending on the immigration program. For example, those immigrating through Canada’s Express Entry system are entitled to include their spouse and dependent children on the application except their parents. However, Canada has family sponsorship programs allowing Canadian citizens and PR to sponsor their spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and parents/grandparents. In order to determine whether or not your family members may join you, first you need to determine which immigration pathway you choose to pursue!
Express Entry
Under Canada Immigration programs, the express entry “ is a system through which the IRCC uses to manage applications for 3 major federal skilled worker immigration programs.
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
As well, many provinces operate Provincial Nomination Programs streams that are aligned with Express Entry. Applicants who are entitled for one of the programs managed by Express Entry need to submit a profile to the Express Entry pool.
All Express Entry applicants are then allocated a score based on their profile using the Comprehensive Ranking System, regardless of the program for which they are entitled. This score is based on numerous criteria, including age, education, language proficiency, work experience, and many other factors related to Canada. The highest-ranking applicants are issued invitations to apply for PR in periodic Express Entry draws. The processing times are as fast as 6 months.
Federal Skilled Worker
All Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) applicants need to have a minimum of one year work experience. However, this program does not need a connection to Canada, so it can be an ideal immigration option for foreign nationals living outside of the country. Kindly note that the program does have strict eligibility requirements with regard to work experience, level of education, age, and language proficiency.
Federal Skilled Trades
In order to qualify for the FST program, applicants need to have at least 2 years of skilled work experience in a trade. This experience should have been obtained within the previous 5 years. As well, eligible applicants need to have either an offer of full-time employment for a position lasting at least a year or a certificate of qualification in their skilled trade which is issued by a Canadian provincial or Canadian territorial authority.
Canadian Experience Class
The Canadian Experience Class is an economic immigration program which needs Canadian experience. Applicants need to have at least a year of full-time, skilled work experience, completed in Canada within the previous three years.
Provincial Nominee Programs for Skilled Workers
Canada’s provinces and territories use distinctive immigration programs designed to meet their individual economic needs and demographic needs. These are known as Provincial Nominee Programs. Various programs target skilled workers who can fill gaps in provincial & territorial workforces, so there are plenty of options for skilled workers.
Quebec Immigration for Skilled Workers
The province of Quebec retains significant sovereignty and authority over its immigration policies & procedures, particularly when compared to the other provinces and territories. So, Quebec operates its own immigration programs which are outside of the federal Express Entry system.
Applying for PR through the province of Quebec follows a 2 step process. First, it is necessary to apply for the Quebec government to obtain a Certificate de sélection du Québec (CSQ). Once a candidate has a CSQ, they are then able to submit a paper-based application for PR to Canada’s federal immigration authorities. Quebec operates 2 major PR programs for skilled workers they are as follows:
- Quebec Experience Program (PEQ)
- Quebec Skilled Worker (QSW)
Quebec Experience Program
The Quebec Experience Program needs skilled workers to be living in Quebec and to have at least a year of full-time, skilled work experience completed within the previous 2 years. This program has a faster processing time than Quebec Skilled Worker but it also has stricter eligibility requirements. This program does need candidates to illustrate advanced intermediate knowledge of oral French.
Quebec Skilled Worker
The Quebec Skilled Worker Program may be an option for skilled workers living outside of Quebec, as it does not necessarily need a Quebec connection. The QSW program uses a points grid to assess eligibility for the program and to rank applicants against one another. Interested applicants need to submit an electronic Expression of Interest (EOI) using the Arrima Portal. The most competitive applicants will be invited to apply to the program.
Work Permits
Skilled workers who are interested in working in a Canadian country, but are not entitled for an existing immigration program, may be interested in obtaining a temporary work permit. Work experience obtained while on a temporary work permit may increase the applicant’s eligibility forPR immigration programs. To get a work permit, applicants usually need a job offer from a Canadian employer.
Business immigration:
All forms of business immigration need significant investment in the country of Canada. It might require the candidate to have invested in a Canadian company or require an candidate to make an interest free loan to the federal or provincial government
Family Sponsorship
